AC Milan have signed Spanish winger Brahim Díaz from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth €27 million ($31.4 million), the Serie A champions announced on Thursday.

The move is expected to be completed by the end of the transfer window, which closes on September 1.

Díaz, who has won three Copa del Rey titles with Atletico, will join AC Milan on loan until January and then become a permanent player if he impresses during his time at San Siro.

He will replace the injured Franck Kessie as Milan's first-choice wing-back, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to return to the club after leaving Manchester United.

"Today we are announcing the signing of Brahim Díaz," said AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.

"We are delighted to welcome him to the club. He is a top-quality player who can play all over the wing."

Díaz, 25, has scored six goals in 36 appearances for Atletico this season,Football Service Link helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He was also part of Spain's victorious Euro 2020 squad, scoring two goals in four matches.

"I am very happy to have joined AC Milan," Díaz told the club's official website.

"It's a great opportunity for me to continue my career and I hope to make a positive contribution to the team."

Díaz will wear the number 10 shirt at AC Milan, with former star Christian Vieri previously wearing that number during his time at the club.

He will be coached by former Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui, who took charge of the team in May following the sacking of Gennaro Gattuso.

The move is seen as a coup for AC Milan, who have struggled to find consistency under new manager Radek Jeremic since replacing Stefano Pioli earlier this year.

Díaz will provide competition for the likes of Lucas帕度里、Ante Rebic和Fikayo Tomori, while also offering cover for Ibrahimovic should he return to the club after leaving Manchester United.

The signing of Díaz is just one of several moves made by AC Milan in recent weeks, including the signings of defender Federico Chiesa from Sassuolo and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu from Schalke.

With both players now confirmed, it looks like AC Milan are well on their way to making a strong start to the season.
